Pie Heading for New England!

07/01/2009

imageNext week I’ll be heading up to the Berkshires to do a little promoting of the new “Live at Hondo’s” with Eben Wood CD.  My ONLY PUBLIC BERKSHIRE PERFORMANCE will be at Bob Alonge’s New Song House Concerts in Sheffield, MA, on July 11th at 8PM, and I’ll be selling the new “Live” project on PuffBunny Records, that evening.  Bill Wence is our promotion man again...his help with the “So Little Has Changed” cd picked up a lot of Americana radio play, and won us many new radio friends.  Thanks to all of you Program Directors and DJs for your generous support!

On Monday, July 13th, I’ll be stopping by WBCR-LP 97.7FM in Great Barrington, MA, around 11am to visit and have fun with Jeanne Bassis.  I’m hoping she’ll play something from the new cd and I’ll probably sing live too!

Then on Wednesday, July 15th, I’ll be taping a segment for Nick Noble’s Folk Revival Show on WICN 90.5 FM, New England’s Jazz and Folk Station.  I don’t know when he’ll run the interview, but it will be streamed on the internet, so I’ll let you know.  Stay tuned....

For My Folk Friends!!

07/01/2009

Those of you who haven’t been by lately, check out my electronic press kit at SonicBids: TaylorPieEPK.  Now I can send out info, pictures and music to venues where I’d like to perform.  If you have a listening room in your area, house concert, coffeehouse, art center, etc. where you’d like to see me play, send the info to: taylorpie@musicianorg, and I’ll go to work on it.

One of my favorite pages for ease of accessing info is TaylorPieReverbNation!  It has schedules, music, and lots of other stuff in a quick page format that’s cool looking!

I’ve also signed up on FaceBook and am inviting everyone to look me up and be my friend there.  Noel Stookey is now a friend along with Mark O’Connor, Jim Clare, Derek Sivers, Happy Traum...there’s a bunch of folkies connecting!!!

For those of you who prefer TaylorPie MySpace, click on!!!

My schedule for July has filled in with some live music, radio interviews, and new venues!  When I return from Massachusetts, I’ll be driving to Norris, TN, near Knoxville on July 23th for an outdoor concert on the commons.  I hear Norris is a verrry cool little place!  Jack Mitchell and his wife Loy are putting me up for the night.  Then the next weekend, on the 31st, I’ll be at the Acoustic Cafe in Johnson City, TN.  A wonderful young folk artist, Alyn Mearns, from NC and Ireland, will be sitting in with me.  I found him on MySpace, and can’t wait to meet him in person.  Good music!!

So, check out the schedule below here, and if you’re anywhere close...at least say hello!!

Well, I’m exhausted now from all my own clicking, so onward and upward...I’ll be in touch.

Thirsty Ear Cafe Update

05/20/2009

We’ve finished the walls in the Thirsty Ear Café, installed the shutters, painted most of the windows, and now we’re into baseboards & trim work.  It’s been harder to find the time for carpentry with all the music dates filling my calendar!

Here’s Alison Harris, my partner in the café up on the ladder pulling the last of the old wall paper off.  The wall with sconces is where there will be a bar and a couple of stools.  My brother Mike found the stained glass film for the windows which turned out beautifully!

In Loving Memory

08/20/2008

On August 16th, my old friend Randy Kaye passed away in Pittsfield, MA.

He and I played together in the late 80’s around the Berkshire area making a lot of noise for just a guitar player and a drummer.  Of course, he was an extraordinary drummer...I reckon he’s playing with the little drummer boy on high now.

Sleep sweet ol’ buddy.  Your rhythm beats on.
To his sons Justin and Jordan, my deepest sympathy.

Charles & Myrtles Coffeehouse

04/28/2008

How ‘bout these shots from Charles & Myrtles Coffeehouse in Chattanooga, TN, where I caught up with Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines in concert.  Folks, this was one of the best shows I’ve ever had the privilege to attend and if you haven’t seen them perform yet, you will want to check Terri’s schedule at her website:www.terrihendrix.com , and then make plans to attend the show.

Terri recorded a couple of my songs and she sang one of them, “Long Ride Home” that evening.  I can’t tell you how humbled I felt listening to such a great artist sing one of my tunes.  Thank you Terri and Lloyd for a magnificent evening!

Here’s Jerre Haskew, myself, and Dalton Roberts at C&M’s.  We played a writer’s round together there, and it felt so good to be with these guys again.

Jerre is a dear friend and original member of The Cumberland Trio (http://www.cumberlandtrio.com).  He and songwriting wife Barbara put us up for the night at their Raccoon Mountain Resort, and as usual were fabulous hosts!  If you don’t own a CT album yet, you may want to order one...these guys are GREAT!!

Dalton, (http://www.daltonroberts.com/) is a hometown philosopher, incredible songwriter/musician, and downright fun fellow, whose friendship is greatly treasured by all of us who are fortunate to know him.  I don’t know anyone with more humor or insight regarding the human spirit!  His recent blues CD is my current favorite, although, I’ve already worn out one copy of “Missonary Stew”.

YouTube Cypress Lake Video

03/28/2008

This is a video for the “Cypress Lake” cut from “So Little Has Changed” cd.  Bob Alan and I wrote the song and Steve Wallace put it together from some actual Jack’s Tracks studio shots.  My good buddy Jerre Haskew added it on YouTube. Thanks fellows!!
